Leveling Tip: Killing a boss will automatically give you the experience required to gain the next level; because of this it will end up saving you a vast amount of time to gain some levels early on through non-boss fights instead of having to grind on extremely tough and time consuming enemies later. For example, if you spend an hour or two getting to level 12 before you take on the first Alucard Clone boss, you can then jump from boss to boss as fast as possible and level straight up to the max level of 30 without any more grinding for the rest of the game (assuming you get the extra level from battle honors). Using this tactic we were able to achieve max level, obtain all honors, and kill Dracula in under 10 hours.
Useful Spells: Konami did a good job of making all the spell choices useful, but a few stand out above the rest (at least to us). Dark Metamorphosis is hands down the best spell in the game, and will consistantly get you out of certain doom in those tough boss fights. Frostbite is another great spell that, when used at precisely the right moment, ensures an enemy can't recover from your screen filling onslought. The lightning group of spells is better than the fire group for damage per mana, and Static is useful as a counter measure when things get tight. The nice thing I find about these spells is that they don't get in the way of each other, whereas Hell on Earth could diminish the usefulness of Dark Metamorphosis, etc. Dark Metamorphosis also practically guarentees the successful use of food items, reducing the useful ness of Lisa's Sacrifice. By using Dark Metamorphosis to pile on the damage and consume food/potions while Frostbiting and Staticng at the proper moments, you can run a very consistant, low mana, onslought that can be sustained for a very long time. Of course you may have other stratigies, but for us this was definitely the ultimate.
